I am a Bay Area native and a proud graduate of the Stanford-O’Connor Family Medicine Residency!

While I have always loved sports, it was not until after college when I discovered my passion for fitness and eventually became a certified CrossFit coach. Being a primary care doc feels a lot like being a coach sometimes: helping people achieve small goals over time while meeting them where they were in their health journey.

Before med school, I served as the Wellness Manager of the San Francisco Ballet. I look forward to continuing to care for athletes of all levels during my fellowship and return injured athletes to play while caring for their overall health.

I had the privilege of earning my Masters in Public Health during medical school with a concentration in Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences. The skills I gained helped me recognize the multitude of bio-psychosocial factors that affect our patients outside of our exam rooms, and taught me methods to affect change on larger, community levels. Throughout my training, I have cared for many patients who, for many reasons, were unable to engage in the movements they enjoyed; by training in sports medicine, I will be better able to understand the musculoskeletal sources which may limit movement and subsequently, the patient’s ability to improve their own health. I believe prevention and sports medicine go hand in hand as we help our patients and our communities become healthier.

Fun fact: Outside of medicine, you can usually find me at Bay Area sporting events with my husband and baby, working out in our garage gym, or binge-watching yet another TV show while I bake not-so-healthy treats.

College: University of Delaware

Medical school: Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University

Emergency Medicine Residency: Cooper University Hospital/CMSRU

Areas of interest: POCUS/Procedural US, Sideline medicine and critical evaluation/resuscitation, Orthobiologics, Medical education

I was born and raised in the small city of Newark, Delaware. There, I started my
involvement in sports at a young age which I continued into my high school and college
years. After initially studying International Business abroad in Taiwan (as well as a brief
stint on my University’s men’s softball team and the opportunity to carry the torch for the
Taiwanese National Intercollegiate Athletic Games), I embraced my desire to study
medicine and returned to the US, finishing my degree at the University of Delaware and
matriculating into SKMC at Thomas Jefferson University. There I discovered my passion
for the undifferentiated patient and love for procedures and ultrasound during my
Emergency Medicine rotation, and was drawn to the art of treating athletic injuries both
critically on the field and gradual return to play during my Sports Medicine rotation. After
three amazing and formative years honing my skills in Emergency Medicine at Cooper, I
now have the opportunity to see both of these passions coalesce at Stanford-O’Connor.
I chose the Stanford-O’Connor Sports Medicine Fellowship because of the robust
ultrasound curriculum, diverse opportunities for sideline coverage, and the incredible
dedication the faculty have to education.

Fun fact: My paternal grandparents were born in the 1890s! I am also half-Taiwanese. My hobbies
include running (find me on the Coyote Creek Trail), all things sports (basketball, baseball, football), acoustic guitar, and spending time with my lovely wife Tiffany and dog-daughter Eevee.
