Additional Benefits

  • $250 dollars per day of orientation

  • Annual paid vacation of 3 weeks (15 days) for all interns and residents

  • Additional 1 week (5 days) of Personal Time Off for PGY2 and higher

  • Up to 5 days of educational leave for scholarly travel

  • Up tp to twenty (20) days of sick leave per year

  • Reimbursement for USMLE/COMLEX Step 3

  • 100% coverage of State mandated medical licenses 

  • Contribution of 7.5% of an employee’s gross base salary towards a Deferred Compensation Plan

  • Educational stipend ($1,000 for PGY1, $1,800 for PGY2 and PGY3) for educational expenses (e.g. books, conferences, etc.) 

  • PGY2 & PGY3 residents will receive an additional day's pay for a holiday worked; interns will receive an additional day's pay or PTO for a holiday worked. There are 13 recognized County holidays: Jan 1, MLK (3rd Mon in Jan), Presidents’ Day (3rd on in Feb), March 31 (Cesar Chavez Birthday), Last Monday in May, June 19 (Juneteenth), July 4, Labor Day (1st Mon in Sept), 2nd Mon in Oct, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day (4th Thurs in Nov), Black Friday (Fri after Thanksgiving), Dec 25

  • Annual $1,400 meal stipend for the purposes of procuring meals while on shift at County-operated facilities

  • Free parking and mileage reimbursement for required away rotations

  • In-hospital library and access to the Stanford Lane Library including all online journals, texts and learning resources (e.g. Up-To-Date, MD Consult)

  • Categorical interns moving greater than 75 miles to SCVMC get up to $1500 of relocation expenses reimbursed

Program-Specific Perks

  • 2 protected Resident Retreats (1 day in the Fall, 1 weekend in the Spring), plus Class Retreats (one protected weekend/year)
